Meet Dr. Wirchansky

Dr. William Wirchansky was born and raised in Yonkers, New York.

“I was not interested in a medical career when I was a young man.  Actually, I was not particularly fond of doctors,” Dr. Wirchansky said. “I had watched my father slowly deteriorate from a neurological condition and his physicians at the time were unable to help him.”

“However, I now realize that this experience had a significant influence on my decision to pursue a career in medicine and neurosurgery.”

Dr. Wirchansky has held numerous leadership positions in New York City.  He is currently the Director of Neurosurgery at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He was also Director of Neurosurgery at St. Barnabas Hospital Health System in the Bronx, as well as Associate Director of Neurosurgery at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn.

Dr. Wirchansky is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in both brain and spine surgery. Dr. Wirchansky does not work with residents or fellows and performs the entire surgery and postoperative care himself.
